Throughout the year my ability to create expanded. Compared to the first quiz my midterm and final had much more significant meaning to me and what I was trying to depict. I focused on developing my midterm to have a meaningful big idea. It focused on the idea that a girl who is perceived to be perfect actually hates herself. For my final I wanted to make the photos meaningful to me. I study fashion and I wanted to incorporate my favorite eras in fun way. By making the clothes and taking the pictures myself, this piece has grown to mean a lot to me.

Blog 5- question 2
My most challenging photoshop technique was learning how to light the pictures. For another blog, I chose to do a photoshop tutorial that dealt with matching lighting. Although Tyra looks better then before, she still isn't lighted as well as she could be. With this I struggled to make her appear to be in the right lighting.

However, by the end of the quarter I mastered this technique and used it in my final. I was easily able to manipulate Barbie's color to flow with the background and then add lighting behind her.
Blog 5- question 1
My most significant accomplishment in this course was my midterm. With such a broad big idea I wanted to develop a piece that would have a more specific meaning. I immediately decided I wanted to do a woman who is suffering on the inside but is perceived to be perfect on the outside. To emulate this into photoshop I originally wanted to do a woman looking into a mirror, however as I developed the piece I decided to show the thoughts of her and her peers. In order to accomplish this I incorporated many photoshop techniques and images.

Artist Statement Rough Draft:
Time Will Tell
The series focuses on the development of women since the early 1900's, however it also depicts how women have remained the same. The appearance of women may change but their morales and beliefs remain the same. The pieces focus on the change in fashion and cultural values but depict the same morales and beliefs. To depict this, I used the same model in each frame. Then, I manipulated colors, apparel, and the background to convey the culture of the time period. To show the consistency of a woman, her pose and thoughts remain the same. I see the series being used in the historical fashion sector.
Influential Art:
I was inspired be looking at the covers of magazines from different time periods especially Vogue and Bazaar. Each of these illustrate the woman of the time period and shows the change over time.
I am also inspired by old album covers such as Juice Newton and Barbara Streisand. They were fashion figures of the time and their covers depict these styles.
I am inspired by Andy Warhol because of his use of series and how he manipulates each frame. I am inspired by his techniques mare then subjects.
Technique
I want to incorporate the abstract photo manipulation technique.

Blog 3- Final Inspiration...Alexandra V Bach
Alexandra V Bach
I find her work to be inspiring because she to focuses on the struggles of girls. Her big ideas revolve around depicting why the woman is broken inside. I am inspired by the techniques she uses to convey her messages. I think by incorporating her broken glass technique and the scratching on the picture I can improve my own work. I want to portray the idea of loneliness and her piece has provided my technical and stylistic ways to do so.

Blog 3- Final Inspiration...Piergiorgio Rozza
Piergiorgio Rozza
I find the work of Piergiorgio Rozza to be inspirational. His Big Ideas focus on the complexity of the human; mentally, physically, and emotionally. The way he conveys his message is appealing to me. The complexity and originality of his pieces are appealing to me. His works are aesthetically beautiful. His ideas are similar to my focus of the complexity of the human thought and emotion.
This photograph fits within my focus of inner struggle of woman. Stylistically I am drawn to the angle and orientation of the photograph along with the detailed shadowing. By incorporating these concepts I feel they will make my work stronger.

This photograph explores the complexity of the human by extracting the pieces from the whole. Stylistically I find this piece interesting and different. Incorporating this into my work will not only improve it, but it will challenge me to grow as a photoshop artist.

Blog 2-Lighting A Gigantic Tyra
The tutorial I chose was lighting a large elephant. In place of the elephant I used a large Tyra Banks.

This is the initial frame. I used the magnetic lasso tool to cut Tyra from a picture and transfer to the city scene.

Blog 1- Jaime Jesso
I find the work of Jaime Jesso very intriguing and insightful.
His first piece is of a burning cigarette. The smoke is directed towards the top of the image and standing on the ash are ten people whose bodies are formed by the ash. The people are from from different backgrounds and on the far left stands a man in a suit reading a book. Next to him is a woman whose head is tilted to the side and the man next to her stands with pride. There are two little boys whose arms are raised in the air as if they were playing and the man beside them has his arms outstretched as if he were rejoicing. There is a young man who is looking down and another man in a relaxed position holding a ball. The young woman to his right stands rigidly and the man at the end has his hands in his pocket and is in an aggressive stance.

The picture depicts how smoking affects everyone and each person represents a different group of society. The man in the suit represents the elite, professional, and intelligent sector of society because his clothes are superior to the others and he is pondering what he is reading. The woman embodies all females because the tilt of her head exhibits her compassion and concern, two main traits of women. The man on her right represents those who are proud, such as military men, and this is conveyed through the way he stands. The two little boys stand for all children and happiness, as conveyed through their actions. The spiritual community is depicted through the man with his arms outstretched. His body language suggests he is rejoicing and waiting to receive a gift from the heavens. By looking down and standing insecurely, it is the young man's body language that indicates he embodies the broken, depressed, and struggling. The man beside him is relaxed and holds a ball, representing the carefree and active. The rigid stance of the young woman indicates she is restricted and therefore she represents the women who are oppressed. Finally the man on the end embodies aggressive individuals because his stance is threatening. Because all the individuals stand on the same cigarette, they are all connected and effected by smoking.
His second piece is of a large clock, that is illuminated in the center of the image, on the side of a dark building. The time reads 10:10 and because it is dark you can assume it is night. There are thick vines growing from the clock that are overtaking the building.
http://www.jjassodigitalworks.com/html/GALERIA%20CONCEPT/con3.html
The piece symbolizes the power of time. In the piece the building is the metaphor for life and the vines are symbolic of the power time possesses. The vines overtaking the building are representations of time overtaking our lives and controlling what we do.
